In case you don't watch the HLN News lineup, Patti Womack is described as a "close childhood friend" of Jodi Arias. When interviewed by Nancy Grace recently, Womack shared childhood photos of the pair and video of her wedding in which Jodi Arias was a bridesmaid. This is Arias and Womack in an undated photo from HLN's website. Womack described the Jodi Arias she knew and grew up with - naturally, she was shocked to learn her friend was involved in the murder of Travis Alexander.
From HLN News |
There are some rumors on the web that one of Arias' character witnesses may have some issues of her own to contend with, reportedly a DUI arrest involving drugs. I'm not trying to fan the flames around Arias' character witness, however there is a clip on You Tube where Womack is seen sitting in the court room with Sandy Arias back in late January - the two are laughing and Womack appears to be under the influence of something. You can check out the clip and judge for yourself! Womack is the woman with the black and white zebra-striped shirt with numerous tattoo's on her left shoulder and arm. I'm not implying that tattoos are in any way associated with substance abuse, just pointing out the tattoos so you don't miss Womack in the short clip! I'm having issues trying to post the clip on this page, but it's easy to find on You Tube.

So many twists and turns - this trial has taken on a life of it's own. It feels like Jodi Arias is handling her infamy almost as if this was a career. Have you ever seen a person facing the death penalty plan a media blitz, selling t-shirts, tweeting and "fund raising" in the manner Jodi Arias has? It's got to be a first. I know I have posted some of her tweets here previously, but I'm constantly astonished at her shameless self-promotion. She is definitely a case-study in sociopathy. I have yet to see or hear a single word of apology, regret, sorrow or remorse from the convicted killer. Any empathy or understanding she may have garnered from people who are against the death penalty is quickly dissolving as her true nature is revealed through her own actions and words.
Her Twitter activity has slowed down considerably since she was convicted, but her words are reflective of her greed, denial and refusal to take responsibility for the crime. How fitting that she had these t-shirts printed up, as many people will always suspect Arias herself had the "Travis Alexander's" t-shirt and shorts printed up herself.

The victim impact statements read by Samantha and Steven Alexander on Thursday will be hard to follow on when the defense returns to court to beg the jury to spare Arias' life on Monday. With only two (known) character witnesses and Jodi Arias expected to testify on her own behalf, the sentencing phase may not take as long as anticipated. Many legal analysts believe having Arias on the stand for an unheard of 18 days was a crucial mistake on the part of the defense. Daniel Gibb, dismissed Juror #8 told Dr. Drew that he found much of what Arias said "too far out there". He clearly felt she spent too much time on the witness stand.
Will we see a different Jodi Arias when she makes her final plea to this jury? Will she show any genuine remorse, or do you believe she is incapable of real emotion around this murder? We know she is sorry she got caught, but is she really sorry she did it? How will Arias handle being cross examined by Juan Martinez one last time? Expect the unexpected with this trial.
Have a great weekend!
My Forte, you are right about Arias childhood friend.

Juan is going to have fun with her on cross.
Personally, her criminal record has nothing to do with this trial. I think Juan would point out that on all of the primetime shows she went on, she always said what a wonderful childhood Jodi had. And she sat next to mother Sandy in gallery, laughing it up quite insensitively. At this point, anyone with half a brain cell should think long and hard before having anything to do with Jodi Arias, she is poison and devastates lives.
DeleteIt has a lot to do with things if she's showing up under the influence of drugs. I don't think you're allowed to testify in that condition.

Well, I know this much. She won't show any remorse because she will still deny the Crime for Appeals sake. I think Juan will bring up her Criminal Record regarding her Character, and if both her and Daryl refuse to show their faces, I don't think the Jury will even take them seriously. If she is such a great person, why do you want to hide...Hmmm...
DeleteI've got to say something, patti is getting smashed on hard by everyone now let me tell you about her first hand. We went to righetti hs together. She was the kind of friend that would never leave your side, she had an amazing personality and to be honest, probably the closest thing to a hippy I ever new back then. Patti was never aggressive in any way other than softball, so she has tattoos, I have tattoos on my face and I manage to be a loving husband and father. Now granted it hurts when applying for jobs, but that's going off topic. I just want to clear the air about patti and only patti. I've never met or heard of Jodi until this hit the news. Please understand that patti does not like the fact that her friend murdered someone, she just doesn't have it in her to leave her friend all alone. I understand she comes off very standoffish but who wouldn't be defensive in this situation. There I said what needed to be said about patty.
ReplyDeleteI just have a couple of things referencing your Post. 1. Having Tattoos DOES NOY make you a bad person, but the problem is, you are leaving the most important references out. You state she doesn't want to leave her Friend out there all alone. If that is the case, why is she SO Ashamed, that she doesn't want her face shown. If she is the Friend as you state above, then she wouldn't be Afraid of supporting her and support her openly. She also has a Criminal Record for DUI, Drugs, which includes Heroin. See above post. So in fairness, I feel that needed to be added to your post to have more clarification. Thank You
DeleteAnxiety sums up your first question. Patti is not on trial but I do feel it necessary to let you know that anxiety plays a lot into it.as for her past, I don't know why you would care or even ask about that. She is only there for moral support for her friend. My mother was a whore, drug addict and died when I was 13 years old. I still love her and despite her faults I know in her heart she was good, she just had an addiction. That's the best way to describe it. Maybe patti just made some mistakes, did you know that she went back to college to play softball after 10 years, and to become a teacher. Funny how the news hasn't brought that up.
DeleteYours are the best write-ups on the case I have found and come here religiously everyday and you don't disappoint.

Great post My Forte! Tomorrow should be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI found this on the Long Beach Women's Shelter's website which the Jodi is (NOT) Innocent site was claiming the Survivor T-Shirt earnings were going.
"WomenShelter of Long Beach does not have knowledge of the facts nor any opinion on the case before the courts which involves Jodi Arias. WSLB supports the process of the courts and we believe the court will do its work. As we have no opinion on the case, we have asked the web site "JodiAriasisinnocent.com" to remove our name from their web site and we believe they have done so. We had no prior knowledge of or involvement in the t-shirt campaign on that web site. WSLB is concerned for all victims of domestic abuse and our mission is to provide shelter, support services, and community education to help victims and work towards eliminating domestic violence in our communities. We would be pleased to accept donations that are given directly to our organization. Thanks for your support!"
A couple of thoughts I had...
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, the raising of money for domestic violence. In order to raise money for charity you have to file as a non-profit charitable organization with the IRS. I doubt very seriously this has been done. If it has and any money at all it used personally the IRS revokes the filing and taxes the funds as income. Also, I have heard that "they" are using Beyoncé's song "Survivor" to sell the t-shirts. It is fairly simple to find her agent's office and make a phone call to let them know how the song is being used. You know from my previous posts that I actually take domestic violence seriously. I can't stand JA's tweet to Nancy Grace about Nancy making light of something serious! While I am disappointed that ALV would allow herself to be used by JA to set back the cause, I do not approve of the backlash ALV has rec'd. My main concern is only that awareness and intervention continue.
Secondly, I have said it before that JA will never show any kind of regret or contrition. Even if she was able to feel a real sense of compassion or empathy her own narcissism would limit her ability to convey that. She is simply not capable. We have to let go of any need we may have to hear some kind of remorse out of her. Unfortunately for JA that would be her only hope of evading the DP.
Lastly, HLN was talking about the DP and how we are seeking revenge and how it won't be as cathartic as the family hopes, etc. For me however I feel the Death Penalty for Jodi Arias is the appropriate punishment as retribution, it is the morally right and just punishment because she has not shown or proven any mitigating factors.

ReplyDeleteUPDATE: United we contacted Dior regarding Arias' copyrighted 'art'. Dior responded and are meeting with lawyers to issue a cease and desist notice. If she doesn't comply, legal proceedings will commence.

My Forte, thanks for posting this. In both the photos you posted Patti looks stoned. I question her credibility as a character witness when her own character is questionable. I hope that tomorrow's testimony by JA's people does not turn into a circus. I am already dreading it because Travis's family has been through so much and they are ready to be done with this "show." For the family's sake I pray for a quick wrap-up, but knowing how JA loves to talk this wish might be in vain.
