A Look At Alyce LaViolette And More Strange Video Footage of Arias Arrest

Yesterday, as Dr. Richard Samuels finished up his testimony the Jodi Arias defense team called their next expert witness to the stand, Alyce LaViolette. LaViolette is a very legitimate expert on the subject of domestic violence, having been one of the early leaders back in the 1970's when this was not a topic that was spoke of often. Jennifer Willmott had LaViolette introduce herself and her educational background, and list her many accomplishments helping battered women and even helping the men who battered them, hoping to return these women to a safer environment. She is likable, and she is a legitimate voice on this topic. The prosecution should not expect this witness to be as sloppy in the trial casework and reporting as Dr. Samuels was.

While it's unknown exactly how far out on a limb LaViolette will go for Jodi Arias, she is expected to testify about some of the characteristics of battered women, why they return to their abusers - and what some of characteristics are of an abuser. LaViolette's credentials and accomplishments are too many to list - her website has a 20 page PDF document listing it all . From her expert witness/trial experience, I picked out what I thought appeared similar in nature - unfortunately, it doesn't have the case names, but I think it's safe to say the 2011-13 Expert Witness & Consultant, Death-Penalty Murder Trial in Phoenix, Arizona is AZ vs. Jodi Arias:

2011-13 Expert Witness and Consultant. Death-Penalty Murder Trial. Phoenix, Arizona 1998 Consultant, Murder Trial. Interviewed defendant, assisted in developing strategy for defense
1997 Expert Witness/Consultant, First Degree Murder Case. Father who killed daughter’s alleged batterer. Dealing with issues of Battered Woman Syndrome; Vicarious (secondary) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; Batterers.
1996 Consultant, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Interviewed defendant to determine whether she suffered from Battered Woman Syndrome. Consulted with attorney, wrote report.
1989 Consultant. Penalty phase, capital punishment case. Consulted with attorneys.
1987-88 Consultant/Expert Witness. First degree murder with special circumstances. Interviewed battered woman who allegedly hired a hit man to kill her husband. Advised attorney of symptoms of battered wife syndrome and testified for defense.
1984-85 Expert Witness. 1st degree murder case (battered woman who allegedly killed her husband). Consulted with defense attorney on jury selection and development of questions to develop battered women syndrome.

It appears she has done a fair amount of work in this area, as an expert witness or consultant. I'm trying to find out the cases attached to these entries, just because I'm curious of the outcome and circumstances of those cases.

In other Arias news, unseen video footage from the Arias arrest in Northern California was played last night - it's a shame the jury isn't seeing this in it's entirety. In a conversation about anger with Detective Flores, Arias recounts a time when she was a teenager when she kicked the family dog, and the dog ended up running away. She said she felt bad about that, and she wanted to apologize to the dog "because dogs have souls too". Detective Flores said "you need to apologize to Travis, for what you did to him". Arias was still in full denial mode, as her voice shifted to almost a childlike tone as she seemingly flirted with the officer, asking him what type of gun he had. Another example of Arias trying to use the one weapon that has always worked for her in the past.

In another clip, she is talking to the detective about Travis - she tells him that Travis had found the woman he wanted to spend his life with, but she still hadn't found the man she wanted to share her life with. She said "I'm happy for him", and "I want him to be happy" - she mentions the name Mimi Hall, and tells him that she doesn't personally know Mimi Hall, but has talked to her at church events. Right there - that strongly suggests that Jodi Arias believed that Travis Alexander was very serious about pursuing Marie Hall! She knew it, she said those words - it's on video, why isn't the jury seeing this? If she's telling the detective these things, you can only imagine how amplified this thought was in Arias's head as she drove to Mesa, to make one last ditch effort to win Travis back. She only had 6 days before he's be on a plane to Cancun with the other woman, the woman she believed Travis was very serious about! How is this NOT relevant to motive? How can Arias accuse him of being a sexual deviant, with nothing to corroborate her claims yet this video evidence is not being seen by the people who are in charge of deciding her fate?

Each time they release more video of Arias's strange behavior, I am more convinced that she went to Mesa with a plan in mind. She is being given so much latitude in her defense that it feels like the trial has lost sight of who the true victim is, and it's Travis Alexander - not Jodi Arias.  While it will be difficult to hear LaViolette refer to Arias as a battered or abused woman, we have to keep the faith that there are going to be 12 reasonable people sitting on that jury, and they are taking their job very seriously. Arias's defense team can't seriously believe Arias will escape justice for this brutal ans senseless murder, but what they are doing is setting up their mitigating factors for the punishment phase of the trial. "Jodi was abused by her mother, Jodi was cheated on and lied to by her boyfriends, Jodi was controlled and manipulated by Travis Alexander", and so on.  She needs to take some responsibility for her actions, and if she HAS a soul, she needs to tell the truth about what happened.

Does anybody have any doubt that she remembers exactly what she did to him on June 4, 2008? I'm willing to bet that she WISHES she could forget the details, but this is a woman who wanted to view the crime scene photos out of "a morbid curiosity"?

Judging by the 6 days Dr. Samuels was on the stand, I'd expect no less for this expert witness. This may be the defense's last shot at making some points with the jury towards Arias's claims of self defense and being in mortal fear at the time of the murder.  I'd expect they will take as much time as they feel is necessary, since their last expert failed in such an epic fashion.  I will patiently wait until Juan Martinez is able to put on the State's rebuttal case, where I believe he will pull out some of the best evidence against Jodi Arias, and her house of cards will fall.

How did Willmott & Nurmi get Alyce LaViolette to testify on behalf of Jodi Arias with little to no real evidence to corroborate her allegations against Travis? This concerns me, because this witness IS actually well respected and she is likable. This will be some interesting testimony.

  1. Great points made, My Forte! I so agree about the extent of the latitude this judge has allowed her defense is a concern of mine. How she premeditated the slaughter of Travis has gotten very short shrift. Even Dr Drew has been confused by the defense obfuscation. He started to describe the murder of Travis and said that "she shot him and then he lunged at her" which is HER version of the murder and does not fit with what the forensics or the medical examiner testified to. It had me worried. I sure can't fathom why the entire interrogation video hasn't been front and center of this jury.

    1. So true! The premeditation and killing are what is most important. The defense is probably hoping the jury will forget the point with all the PTSD, sex and domestic violence. Thankfully, the jury seems on the ball.

  2. I agree! I am frustrated with the things the jury is not seeing. Jodi being well aware of Mimi is another thing that is important and should be presented in court.

My Forte, I have been wondering the same thing about Alyce LaViolette all day. She seems like she has done so much good in the area of domestic violence and helping people. I can not understand why she is testifying for the defense. She doesn't strike me as someone who would lie on the stand for money. I don't know her personally, but reading her web site gave me the idea that she really cares about people. I am confused! One thing I can say, I think the state could turn this around to show Travis was abused by Jodi.....but there are so many things we know that the jury doesn't. : (

  4. As a previous victim of serious domestic violence, I was very glad to hear LaViolette's testimony for public knowledge but also to potentially help other victims identify what is happening to them. I agree that LaViolette seems very reasonable and I think unwilling to draw unsubstantiated conclusions. That being the case, I think she will actually not be that much help to the defense. Once Juan Martinez cross examines LaViolette, I think she will answer accurately and without the bias that was clear with Dr. Samuels. In fact, I think she will show that Jodi Arias is NOT a battered woman. It is quite offensive to me to use this as her defense. They are just desperately trying to keep her off of death row and the defense does need to make sure they examine all possible defenses in order to make the prosecution proves it's case. That way if she gets the death penalty it will be a proper sentence.

  7. Amen, from the first day that we heard Alyce Laviolette speak I have had the haunting feeling that something is just not right. She made some rather vague comments about writing her thesis and proceeded to do a lot of self back patting. No doubt Mr Martinez will find the missing piece to the puzzling Ms Laviolette.

    1. I predict that JM will tie everything together during closing arguments. We will know what the jury thinks about Laviolette when they read the questions from the jury. I'm almost positive she will be discredited. I hope selling your reputation down the river was worth it. It'll cost the taxpayers of Arizona a fortune to pay for her. I believe this will be a career ending testimony for Alyce. How can anyone go and buy her book after watching how far off the mark of what DV is in her testimony.

    2. Raleyclub,
Thank you for your comments. It's a shame that Alyce LaViolette associated herself with this case after 3 decades of work in the field of domestic violence. Her one sided assessment of Arias, her refusal to consider Travis's own comments of fear and Jodi's dad's statements that she has been untruthful since age 14 really shows that she was more interested in finding abuse in this case than finding the truth. What we can all do is sign that petition for Travis Alexander's Law, to put an end to trashing the victim without evidence to back up the claims! Let's all be a part of positive change. I think ALV will be surprised at the backlash that will follow her after this trial. I hope the $50,000 was worth her career!

  9. Just because LaViolette gives the appearance of being gay does not mean she does not possess good judgement or knowledge and experience. Is Jodi Arias a good person because she appears to be heterosexual? All I am saying is that awareness of what's abuse and what's and what's not and the different levels is a GOOD thing. I actually think that Jodi may be shown to be the abuser! She WAS the one stalking, slashing tires, breaking into accounts, etc. Wouldn't that be great for the Prosecution. Remember everything Jodi has said is her version. The T-shirt/underwear she could have made, she could have said she liked feeling like a young girl off tape, and she could have brought the abusive dynamic to the relationship. I know from experience that when you are dealing with someone who is unreasonable and abusive you're own reactions could seem wrong out of context. So he called her some names and said "Dammit Jodi" on the phone, we don't know what he was responding to. Ask yourself what you would say if someone slashed your tires for the second time! I don't think he was a saint but I do think he was dealing with an unreasonable basically crazy person who deserves the death penalty.

    1. Did Alyce take into consideration that Travis had to be extremley blunt with Jodi because he told her repeatedly that he did not want a relationship and she simply could not accept that. He was trying to get rid of her. That to me explains all the comments he made to her.

      Delete
  10. Critical thinking would have nothing to do with her sexual orientation. There is no science to social studies. LaViolette can only say that in general there were some potentially abusive things going on from Travis. Again, we don't know what he was responding to. I think JM will very easily show that Jodi had abusive qualities herself.

  11. This Alyce lady sees abuse in every single thing. She is skewed in her thoughts when she simply cannot find any balance what-so-ever! I can't believe the judge allows all this garbage! Shame on her! But she hasn't had very good control of this case from the beginning. If she did we would be through with this by now. Why can't Alyce see that a compliment is good? No, oh wait, it is abuse because Jodi doesn't know she should feel shame about a compliment! I have been a victim of abuse in my past, but hearing Alyce, I would have to say nearly EVERYONE has suffered abuse and therefore are all victims of domestic violence! Alyce is stuck in a mindset and I actually feel pity for her. She's old, she's washed up and why not go out with a bang? Get on that sensational wagon Alyce, just one last time... it'll open up financial doors for you, that in my opinion, is abuse!

One of the hardest things about watching this whole trial is that Travis Alexander is gone and has nobody to speak up and tell his side of the story. We are left with the words of a sociopath, who has had 4+ years to dream up her defense - and now has pricey paid "experts" who are trying to validate this garbage. It's just not fair. Where's Travis's million dollar trial? Thankfully, Juan Martinez is very passionate about what he does and he DOES care about Travis Alexander and his family. I think Mr. Martinez will be fully prepared to knock down many of the points the defense attempted to make via their "expert witness" testimony. Prosecutors always save some of their ammunition for the rebuttal case, and that's his chance to disprove many of Arias's claims. I cannot wait! Thanks for your comments!

  13. Why is the jury NOT being showed the interrogation video?! As a victim of severe domestic violence, in my first marriage, it OFFENDS me so badly that this murderous woman is using it as her defense. From what I've seen, there is absolutely no proof any violence ever happened. If anybody suffered any abuse, it was Travis. She stalked & harassed HIM!! Jodi is one of those annoying people, who never takes responsibility for their actions. Always a victim. Was it hard for me to leave my abuser, yes, but I did. It never crossed my mind to shoot him, then stab him, and THEN slit his throat. Hopefully the jury will see thru this. I'm sorry, Laviolette may have tons of experience, but just because a guy doesn't want to cuddle, after sexual relations, does not mean he's abusive. She deserves the death penalty, for this blatant premeditated murder. Can't wait to see Jaun's cross-examination!!

I couldn't agree with you more that JODI ARIAS was an abuser and stalker. But of course, none of those incidents will be discussed because they are too prejudicial! I don't understand that - doesn't the tire slashing/doggie door entry incidents show what kind of person we are dealing with, and doesn't the jury deserve to know these details? I know that it was never proven that she was the tire slasher or the sender of the harrassing e-mails to Lisa Andrews/Diadone, but shouldn't the jury be the ones to decide what to do with that information? You give the jurors information, and they weigh it. Anyway, I'm sorry that you went through a truly abusive relationship and you have every right to be sickened by Alyce LaViolette's stance on this trial. IF she is doing this for publicity, I think she has underestimated the public's opinion about the defendant she has chosen to stand up for. Thanks for your comments!

  14. It was brutal listening to Alyce LaViolette testify for the defense on behalf of Jodi Arias. What a pathetic effort and waste of time it was trying to portray JA a victim. The reason they failed is because JA is psychotic killer. Sometimes we need to hear the obvious! Jodi Arias = KILLAR + LIAR. Two lives lost, families crushed, priceless. So sad! The legal system will come to a decision that cannot and will not please everyone. Daily media coverage is definitely not necessary for the legal process, or for that matter, for anyone. 4BetterChoicesGo2: 1 702 421 3511.

Thank you for your comments. I'm so sorry you went through such a traumatic childhood. Your childhood is supposed to be full of great & loving memories, not the fear and violence you described going through. It's a shame that 50 years ago this was a subject nobody talked about outside of the home. People really believed what happened in the family should stay in the family. That mentality harbored the many child abusers, wife beaters and child molesters that have always walked the face of the earth. I'm glad you made it through that rough period in your life, and very glad you haven't killed anybody and used your childhood trauma as a justification for it. God bless you!

You made some great points in your post - Ms. LaViolette does seem to find some type of abuse in situations that seem quite common to many of us. Using her standards/measurements in these areas, many many people would be deemed to be "abusers" and "victims". While I understand "abuse" isn't always visible/physical, some of what she has described seemingly occurs in most normal relationships to some degree, doesn't it? Thanks for commenting!

  20. I am very concerned with the portrayal of Jodi Arias as an abused woman. No one can tell what transpired before, during or after some of the texts, emails, etc. for Travis to make some of the comments.I have personal experience with a young woman (a friend of my daughter) who is clearly troubled. She is a "button pusher" will get attention any way she can from a man. For that matter anyone. Her parents are scared of her and what she will do. Everyone caters to her so they don't experience her outbursts.Once she puts her designs on a man she will do anything, anytime to get what she wants...at that time. Then when she grows tired of them...boom...she does anything she can to destroy them. She is violent, throws temper tantrums, slashes tires, stalks ex girlfriends, controls men through sex, gives men money to tie them to her..I could go on. It is like watching a mirror image. Why am I concerned...she also does her female friends the same way. Almost terrorizes them into compliance, secures their silence on some of her escapades. She become men's dream sex partner and has no limits..then becomes the poor mistreated little girl when SHE begins to tire of the play. I hope someone wakes LaViolette up to realize there are abusive women out there. They are chameleons and dangerous to all around them.

Sounds like a sociopath in the making! I hope your daughter distances herself from this friend or perhaps the friend will get help? Unfortunately it seems these type of people don't think there is anything wrong with their behavior until it's too late and something bad happens. All you can do is make sure your daughter recognizes the behavior and is very careful not to be manipulated into getting into trouble with her! Thanks for a very real insight!

    2. I failed to mention her father is a high ranking law enforcement official who covered much if not all of her escapades. Finally she has moved to another state. However, she has left a trail of destruction behind. We've tried to encourage our daughter to see how this woman has brutalized our daughter mentally and emotionally. Fortunately our daughter has graduated college and has a life that is allowing her to "escape" the friend's grasp. My concern is at some point friend will realize daughter is no longer her minion. Could Not be good. In fact the transformation of our daughter after the other girl left is amazing. BTW I am the adult child of a malignant narcissistic mother who literally terrorized and abused me and my father because we became so terrified of what we knew she was capable of. This was in the 1970s when NO ONE discussed such. My MN radar goes up no matter how I try not to be judgmental. ALYCE LAVIOLETTE could very well be duped by JA and this trial could implode her career. Sad...she does have so much to give domestic abuse victims.

  21. Anyone dealing in the same background as Ms. LaViolette (abuse, women shelters, pyschology) will tell you from experience, abused women forced to defend themselves by murder will immediately admit guilt and not offer a fabricated version, unless of course it was premeditated and an "alibi version" is being attempted. I think this "professional" has a personal interest a vendetta against men, publicity and fame, financial... something

I think the most telling facts about this murder are the forethought that went into it, the planning with gas cans and the staged robbery of the gun. What are the odds that the robbery is unrelated and simply a coincidence? From what I understand, there were other guns at the grandparents home yet only the handgun was taken? Also, Arias told Det. Flores she has no knowledge of guns during an interview - yet on the stand she said she did. People who are telling the truth don't have to keep their stories straight, it comes naturally because it's the truth! I agree that a true "self defense" killing does not require a cover up!

  22. The reality is both lives tragically ended, one physically and the other in prison. One thing I hope that we, as a society, learn from them. What is human stability? What extend we would go to get what we want even if it were immoral, in closed doors, and living a double life or lie? They are people just like us and it is not us on the line so therefore we can freely speak our minds. Of course, we don't have to face the consequences of what we say. In reality, we have a lot to reflect on our own relationships and how we treat people we love. From reading many posts, Travis is the angel and Jodi is the devil. Who we are to judge? When we ignore abuse, Domestic Violence, Obsessive thoughts and behaviors that warrant mental health and our families and close ppl, don't encourage us to get help sooner. There were signs in Jodi but it is too late now. We are all the Travis's and Jodi's in society. If people are loving and caring as they claim to be, please be an advocate to mental illness not be judges. After all we are all connected in this life and we all should care about each other. Therefore, I cannot judge these people at all. It is just a tragic reality but a lesson for us to learn from. A loving wish of good mental health to all of you.

  25. I can no longer watch the trial, seeing Alyce in action just disgusted me. I have so much admiration for Travis' family and their ability to sit through this with such composure.

The texts did not prove Jodi was abused in any way...all they proved was that she had pushed Travis to such a point of frustration. She taunted and tortured him emotionally. He wasn't being unfaithful to her, she was a booty call and she knew it.

I believe she let him know he was going to die and that she enjoyed seeing terror in him during his final moments. She's pure evil and anyone who defends her is nothing short of disgusting.

    RIP Travis.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I also believe Jodi was a booty call to Travis. I don't think it started out that way, but as the relationship progressed he discovered she was just not the type of girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, or as the saying goes, "not the kind of girl you want to bring home to your parents". She obviously wanted more out of the relationship & was willing to do anything to keep him, and not let anyone else have him, hence the stalking, tire slashing, & using sex. But, I also think that by Travis's continuously using her for sex was a form of emotionl abuse even tho she initiated it.....its pretty hard to continually reject someone that is constantly hunting you down.
As for Alyce LaViolette, I think the defense was so desperate for any help with the self defense aspect of their case......in which their is none....they had to resort to her cuz she is so "old schooled" in that area, that basically everyone can say they were abused at some point in their lives. How else could they claim that being hit with a spoon as a child constitutes abuse? Growing up my parents used to buy my brother's & sisters & I those paddles with the rubber strings with a ball attached. when the string would break they would use it as a paddle on us kids when we misbehaved, & we would also get the belt if we were really bad. The people I used to babysit for would give me a wooden spoon to spank their kids with to punish them.We never grew up & killed anyone. That was a common form of punishment in the 60's & 70's. According to Alyce, everyone would be abused then.
I also think this judge is letting some of this shit go on way to long, Alyce should be told to answer with yes or no, I have never seen a trial where a witness has gotten away with talking back to an attorney like she does.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Alyce LaViolette is SO BUSTED - flailing and floundering all over herself today as the Prosecutor continuously exposed her bias for the Defendant. She is NOT a credible witness given her obvious suspicion of men and her predisposition of finding male abuse in every situation. She was clearly “charmed” by Arias from the start and reached her domestic violence conclusion long before she saw all the evidence available to her for consideration. In addition, her arrogance is overwhelming as she continuously refers to the Prosecutor as “Mr. Martinez.” Adding insult to injury, Jennifer Wilmott needs to stop all the inappropriate levity between herself and Arias smiling and giggling; it is so insulting to the true victims in this case, the Alexander family.

Yes I agree that LaViolette has been unprofessional and sarcastic with Juan Martinez. Her refusal to answer simple questions, and addressing the Judge herself to argue? That is NOT allowed in trials! She has been admonished and asked to answer yes or no, yet she continues to argue. I feel that LaViolette was only interested in finding abuse, and had no interest in finding the truth. Even knowing Jodi Arias lied to her and Dr. Samuels, she hasn't budged on her opinion that Arias is honest, truthful and abused! I pray the jury sees this through our eyes.

  28. So now Jodi believes her IQ is equivalent to that of Einstein. Apparently she has not read any of his noteworthy quotes -- "Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either."

  30. The redirect of Alyce LaViolette is a pathetic attempt to rehabilitate a discredited witness. She relentlessly stuck to her position of Arias’ abuse to her own detriment. It came across so biased toward the defense that it backfired and helped the prosecution. And speaking of helping the prosecution, Jennifer Wilmott, Arias’ defense attorney, has gone way overboard with all her grinning and nodding with the defendant during their endless note passing throughout the court day. I understand the defendant is assisting in her defense but it is the Alexander family that has to endure this disgraceful display of arrogance.

Nicely said! I couldn't agree more that her credibility was dismantled, piece by piece by Juan Martinez yesterday. Is LaViolette even interested in the truth in this case? She appears to ONLY be interested in finding abuse. How could she assume Travis was lying in his text message that he was fearful of Arias? That's quite a leap for her to take. And what about Jodi's own father, telling Det. Flores she had been dishonest since age 14? She found reasons to NOT believe Mr. Arias as well. She's got tunnel vision. I think Martinez was brilliant in bringing these pieces out one by one. Even when confronted with Arias lying to ALV about where she shot Travis, she refuses to relent about her assessment. Where did you shoot him Jodi, the closet or the bathroom? Or was the fog rolling in, triggering your PTSD? If LaViolette was interested in finding the truth, she would've looked for it by interviewing those who knew this murder victim. She chose not to. Now she's stuck with her decision and in my opinion, it just may be a career killer for LaViolette (no pun intended).

  32. She OJ’ed him… and those who criticize La Violette for doing a disservice to “real” victims and exhibiting an uncharacteristic “bias” are totally off the mark. Everything she says and does is totally mainstream domestic violence orthodoxy. It was born in the “research” of Lenore Walker and her study of a small group of women’s shelter populations and was repeated in numerous quasi-scientific studies of similar populations in the early 90’s. It insists that whatever the woman alleges must be taken as truth and they are all “real” victims. This doctrine/ideology is included within the original Violence Against Women Act and every reauthorization since and is easily found in the actual texts of these legislations. It is included in the conditions of every federal grant application for domestic violence funding. It is included in every mandatory batterer reeducation program. It is included in every mandated judge and police training seminar. It essentially insists that the woman is always the victim of “the patriarchy” and their male abusers.

  33. Agh.....please end this trial already! I have a new disdain for defense attorneys after watching this trial. I find the judge to be such a weak presence in the courtroom. Too much extra testimony seems to slip in without her stopping it. The lawyers fees are at 1.4 million taxpayer dollars. This trial has gone on way too long. The bitch is guilty! End of story. Lets get back to the slaughter of Travis and get Jodi behind bars. Alyce took this case, just like Samuels did purely for some good money. Lets face it we will always remember the cast of characters in this trial. Fame and fortune comes with a price! I cant wait for Juans closing argument.

  34. LaViolette seems accurate in her account of abuse, and that not all situations, particularly conducted by teenagers before personality stability, should be considered an integral part of their identity. Arias may have some strange traits that may be considered disorders in personality, she may indeed be eccentric and of course violent; but since prior to this traumatic relationship, she had other relationships, ones with which she still maintains good ties, holds evidence that this relationship was unique and isolated in triggering negative basal characteristics, ones that would traumatize to such a degree leading to violence. This case should NO

  35. This case against ARIAS should not result in death penalty, but rather a life sentence of therapy.

  36. LaViolette appears to have twenty-nine years of spouting that only only women are victims, excuse me survivors of abuse and men are the abusers.

  37. So many of us are watching this trial from Canada, and we're appalled by the lack of this woman's expertise on the subject at hand -- why weren't questions posed such as "Do 29 stab wounds, slicing the throat and finishing off with a shot to the head constitute EXCESSIVE force?" Show the autopsy pictures even, and JOdi only had a couple of scratches -- makes no sense. I think Travis told her they're over with, he's going to Mexico and that's the stsart of his new life. She came there planning to kill him if she couldn't get him to change his mind about going to Mexico. EVERYONE HAS FORGOT ABOUT THE FORENSICS............

  38. I would like to think that Aylce Violette has been tricked by Jody but I don't believe she has. I believe Jody is a master manipulation and that Violette knows this but chose to defend her anyways. Why, because Travis was verbally abusive even though Jody accepted that. Have you ever been fed up with someone and then let it all come out, and its not always pretty. I don't think Travis thought too highly of Jody as their relationship went on but I believe she either introduced him or allowed him to act out on any sexual thought he wanted to and for that Jody wanted committment. Once she realized that he only wanted her for sex ed, the game was over for Travis. I beieve as she was stabbing him she was probably screaming out, and this stick is for "sexual act" and the more she screamed the more angry she got until she probably was exhausted. For Violette, one more man down, 2 points. You can see on Violettes face that some are doubting her. She doesn't have the same smile and spunk she had a first. She looks like Jody, a whooped dog. If Travis was abused as a child, then he has sure been abused as an adult. We all have our secrets, secrets we only tell GOD, but that does not mean we should be murdered.

    1. Gail Billings-Beck and Alyce LaViolette are business partners as well as domestic partners. They have lived together as a married couple for well over a decade.

  40. Premeditated murder with aggravating factors of a cruel and unusual nature calls for nothing less than the death penalty. The defendant is a psychopath in every sense of the word, however, she is legally sane and went to great lengths to conceal her involvement in the murder. As for her previous relationships with men, she shows a clear pattern of deception, manipulation, stalking and confrontation. All murdering psychopaths advance in their career. Jodi's history of beating her mother and killing the family dog are the classic signs of a serial killer. I mean let's face it, Ted Bundy wasn't ALWAYS a murderer and he had long lasting relationships.. but even he didn't choose to slaughter the women he developed real relationships with. Jodi Arias deserves the death penalty and if she doesn't then no one does. Travis Alexander was a good man. He didn't deserve to die and while nothing can bring him back, we can damn well make sure justice is served for what was done to him. As for LaViolette, she isn't stupid. She knew this would be a highly publicized trial. Perhaps she underestimated the degree of criticism and backlash she would be subjected to but she knew her opinion wouldn't be well received. She is pretty much retired at this point but any publicity is good publicity and her book has already sold out on Amazon despite (or should I say in spite) of the 1100 negative reviews she's received. If she decides to embark on a new journey, her platform will be cyber-bullying. She will write a book on it and make millions instantly. So I don't feel sorry for her but I don't agree with anyone trying to destroy her livelihood. After all, everyone is entitled to a fair trial and even so called *expert witnesses* are flawed and can be duped by society's borderline personalities.

  41. My Forte, your blog is one that I visit and comment on daily. Your writing style is amazing. However, while I am a huge advocate and supporter of the 1st Amendment, I think you should consider removing personal and defamatory comments about ALV as opposed to letting them stand. Constructive criticism of AVL is fair but character assassination is not and it really takes away from the integrity of your blog.

  42. I am a true victim of domestic abuse. I tried to get help. I was told by police that until he actually hurt me they could do nothing. Friends thought he was too NICE. After two shattered wrists. Two broken knees. Surgeries an multiple other injuries and abuse of his next girlfriend. Did ANYONE believe me. He didn't look like he would do that I was told. Maybe travis was told the same. Duh. Ms Laviolette is a disgrace to true victims. She's giving free rein to future jodies. She testified she took jobs she did not want in the past because she needed the money. Obviously she still needs money. Duh. She is biased look up her web site for patient reviews even before this trial. They are the worst I've seen. No wonder she's writing books an protecting murderers. Esp female ones. Its obvious she does not like MEN. As far as the defense attorney. She's no better. I akways thought defense attorneys were supposed to defend the innocent. Not protect the guilty. I pray jodie doesn't get off due to this incomoetentand biased woman. She's giving free rein to other psycopaths. How long before jodie does this again if she gets off. How scary. I am dusgusted by thus woman. Its apparent she's not after tge truth. Just another paycheck. Duh.
