Jodi Arias Arrest Clip From Siskiyou County Sherriff's Department

Just a quick post in response to the many requests about the new video footage with Jodi Arias when she is being arrested in Northern California back in July of 2008. During the clip that aired two nights ago, she can be seen wearing handcuffs, and sitting on the floor "indian style", flipping her hair as women do when they want to add a little volume to their hairdo!

After she is informed of her murder indictment, she begins to panic and asks Detective Flores "so this is going to be public now" and she specifically asks if Travis's family has been informed or if they have called the Sheriff's office. Detective Flores tells her that while the Alexander family calls nearly every day, "they don't even know we are talking to you", he tells her. This clip may not include everything I posted about a few days back - in that clip, she asks Flores if the story of her arrest will be on the news that same night.

You can almost feel the panic setting in for her, at one point she begins to sob and tells Detective Flores that although this will show how shallow she really is, can she "clean herself up" before they take her for her mugshots! Shallow is putting it mildly Ms. Arias. I'm sure what they showed on air was longer than the 48 second clip I found and added below, but it does contain much of what I described here:

http://www.hlntv.com/video/2013/03/21/jodi-arias-murder-arrest-interrogation-bizarre-behavior

If this link doesn't work for you, go to HLN's website, and look for the headline in the link - it's dated March 21, 2013. Now, let's take a step back for a moment and think about this. This woman has just been informed that she is being arrested and charged in the first degree murder of close friend/ex boyfriend Travis Alexander. What are her immediate concerns?  Her makeup, her hair and how she will look in her booking photo. Running a close second is her concern that Travis's family will be informed that she is suspect number one in the murder investigation.

She also wants to know if she will make the evening newscast! Does this sound AT ALL like a woman with low self esteem? She should be inconsolable, I would be. But she seems to be baffled that they are actually taking her into custody.  The other clip also showed Jodi Arias interacting with a female officer, and they were comparing how she behaved while in the presence of a female officer versus how she acted with Detective Flores. I didn't notice much difference, but then again the clip wasn't terribly long.

For whatever it's worth, this is what I was able to find. I'll keep looking for more, since they have been saying there is hours of video footage, and they always seem to be reviewing more and airing it little by little.  They probably want to capitalize on the public's appetite for information on this unusual murderer and the horrible crime she is forever attached to.

Where do we go from here? I don't think they are quite finished with Dr. Samuels yet - we may see more of him on Monday. I believe the defense has another "expert" on domestic violence, will this expert be more believable and/or more professional that Dr. Samuels? The defense better hope so. Considering there is absolutely no evidence that Arias was a victim of domestic violence, once again it comes down to her word and how convincing and effective her lies to this particular expert were.  She has been described as a great manipulator, so it's not a stretch to believe she was able to con another "professional" into believing her tales of being mistreated, battered, and emotionally and sexually abused.

It will be hard to sit through for those of us who don't believe she is a legitimate victim of anything other than her own jealous and obsessive behavior. The defense would have the world believe that Travis Alexander was controlling Jodi Arias - I disagree. Arias used the one weapon she had in her arsenal that Travis Alexander couldn't walk away from - sex. She knew he wasn't getting what she was giving him from the other women in his life, but she also had to know that he respected those other women for that very reason. Those women may have represented what he really wanted out of a life partner and wife, and Jodi Arias wasn't the one for him.

My last thought on yesterday's redirect by Jennifer Willmott - while questioning Dr. Samuels, much was made about Jodi Arias moving back to Yreka and away from Mesa and Travis. They allege that it shows that Arias wanted to move on with her life and this was her first step in that direction. I believe Arias moved because she had to. Financially, she could no longer afford to stay in Mesa - she wasn't making it at PPL, she wasn't any closer to becoming Mrs. Travis Alexander and she ran out of choices. She needed to stay somewhere rent-free, so she reluctantly went back to Yreka. I doubt that would've been her first choice, had she had any other option. Once she moved away, she was no longer able to check up on Travis, to drop by his house unannounced - she wouldn't know who he was spending time with anymore and she was losing control over the entire relationship.

He was making plans for his life, many of his immediate plans did not include Jodi Arias. She was well aware that Travis's friends did not like her, didn't feel she was the woman for him. With her living in another state, his friends would have more freedom to speak their minds and try to get him back to dating someone who would be more appropriate for marriage. That had to eat her inside. Jealous is not a strong enough word to describe how she must have felt when she realized he was going on vacation with another woman - somebody she knew he was interested in. The "friends babysitter" story is just another one of Jodi's tales, probably dreamed up while sitting in her jail cell and pondering her future. I believe she will do anything in her power to get out of this murder charge. She is facing the death penalty - she's already proven that she will lie for much lesser reasons.

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. ballistics question regarding the shell cartridge found at the scene in Arizona; Has the supposedly stolen 25 caliber gun in Yreka, California, have matching ammo boxes or Manufacturer's lot numbers, etc., left at the home along with other rifles not stolen. Can cartridge samples be tested to identify if the empty cartridge in AZ match the ammo manufacturer of boxes left behind in Yreka? Her parents/grandparents' gun would have more than one bullet. There should be "the rest of the box" still in Yreka.

  3. I was researching Ryan Burns testimony and he says Aria was only planning on staying at his house for 1day. He also says it takes about 12 hours to drive from LA ( where she was to visit the friends newborn) and West Jordan, Utah. Who would drive for 12 hours to spend one day somewhere? The whole trip makes no sense ... The amount of actual driving time it takes to go 3,000 miles is hours and hours and hours. Literally days! Her entire trip makes no sense. No one would drive for that amount of miles to spend literally hours with each person she stopped to visit! The prosecutor needs to map out how many miles in between each stop how many hours each trip would take and how long she visited people for bc it woke prove the trip does not make sense!

I know! That trip makes no sense for someone who claims to be broke - I once calculated all of the mileage she piled up, going from Pasadena to Mesa, then from Mesa to West Jordan, and finally West Jordan back to Redding and it was crazy! I don't believe she checked into any hotels during her trip, so even if she drove an average of 65 MPH, that wouldve been more than 43 1/2 HOURS of driving! (2,834 miles @ 65MPH avg) I can almost buy that she'd want to borrow or rent a car, if her car wasn't in good working condition - but taking gas cans to save a few cents per gallon on out of state gas, and then filling up those cans IN CA - right there her story goes out the window. I think she planned the entire trip around Mesa - she probably called Travis when she was already nearby, or she may have tried to make him jealous by telling him she was going to see Burns in Utah. Her plan was set into motion by the time she recorded that audio tape, she was going to bring him down via blackmail or murder. There is not one part of her story that makes sense! Thanks for commenting and enjoy your weekend!

We can't rembember which talking head on the news said it, but they said:

"Jodi Arias had become the Ventriloquist, and everyone involved with the Defense team have become her Dummies".

That's priceless! Does anybody really believe that Arias's defense team even believes her story? I don't see how they can. But every citizen is entitled to a vigorous defense, so there you have it. Somebody has to defend murderers! I don't think I could do it personally, especially if I had a client telling such tall tales!

  6. I heard on JVM today that Jodi was supposed to go on
that Cancun trip, But Travis changed the name on the
ticket to Marie Hall, sometime in April, after Jodi moved
back to Yreka. That could be the motive behind the
    murder.

I heard that too! I was very surprised, because I hadn't heard that before yesterday. IF they can prove that to be true, that would show that Arias DID know that Travis was taking Mimi Hall and not some friend's babysitter as she testified! That has always been by thought because of the timing of the murder, that Cancun was the catalyst for the crime. Arias is ON RECORD testifying that she believed Travis was taking a friend's babysitter because Travis owed this friend money, and that was how he was repaying the friend. How ludicrious does that sound? I hope that if this is true, Martinez provides those airline records during his rebuttal case - that would go a long way towards sealing the deal on premeditation and showing she has lied on the stand. Thanks for commenting!

  7. I just saw that, too, Anon. I hope the jury hears this. The producer of the show mentioned how Jodi responded in court...saying she wasn't jealous, didn't care at all. He was taking the babysitter. That sounded suspicious to me then....I am happy she brought that up! Cancun was the last straw. I do think she went to ask him to change his mind and if he didn't she planned to kill him.

    1. Sue,
I too was surprised to hear that on JVM yesterday! If Juan Martinez is able to get a hold of the airline records that show a name change, Arias's story of believing Travis was taking a friend's babysitter would be blown out of the water. I've always believed the Cancun trip was what set her murderous plan into motion. It would have tortured her to think of him in sunny romantic Cancun, having fun and in her twisted mind, trying to win the heart of Mimi Hall. Her testimony about him taking the friend's babysitter is not believable. He doesn't seem like the kind of person who would enter into that type of arrangement to begin with. She knew who he was taking, but she didn't know that Marie/Mimi Hall was only interested in a platonic relationship w/Travis.

  8. Yes, My Forte! I agree with you 100%. As soon as I heard about the Cancun trip my gears started turning.....and then her not-so-good lie in court that she wasn't jealous. Bingo! Yep, I think she knew who he was taking, too.....and Arias' mind is twisted. She said in court that Travis said he was thinking Mimi would make a good wife....isn't that correct? I remember hearing that. Jodi was out of her mind with jealousy. I seriously hope Martinez gets some proof......yes, that would be another enormous lie she will be trapped in......not to mention proof of perjury.

    1. Sue,
If I'm not mistaken, Jodi Arias was SO aware of Travis' interest in Mimi Hall, she wrote in her journal when he was on his third date with her - they had gone rock climbing or hiking, and Arias waited at his house and "fell asleep" outside of his bedroom while waiting for him! How creepy and stalker-like is that? I think if she could simply admit she was jealous, maybe some of her testimony would seem more valid? I'm hoping Martinez has some tricks up his sleeve for rebuttal that will blow her stories out of the water. He is so prepared for this trial, I couldn't believe when he whipped out that Webster's dictionary definition of "compassion" on Dr. Samuels last week! He thinks 3 steps ahead of the defense. Thanks for writing!

  9. And the t-shirt that had Travis Alexander's on the front
and "Being Better Blog" on the back, and you notice
that she never showed the back of the shirt, and the
underwear was done by someone that really didn't know
how to space the letters right, it looks like she made the
underwear with iron on letters. Remember that the pic
wasn't done until July, because she knew they were
    getting ready to arrest her.

Wow, that's a great observation - I hadn't seen the back of the t-shirt but the shorts/underwear did look very "homemade", not a professional job. I never thought about the possibility that she made them herself! It was always suspicious that the "Spideys" we have heard so much about were never photographed, but we are supposed to believe Travis loved it when she wore them? And you are so right about the photos being taken in July, she knew she was going to be arrested. She had been getting her ducks in a row since she recorded that sex call in May, followed by the staged break in - if only the police could have found that gun! Great observation, thanks for commenting!

  10. Wow, Anonymous, I had no idea that there was a back to that shirt. That is another thing the jury really should see. It changes the whole context. That is so frustrating that court seems to be about manipulating the evidence, basically. It should be about getting to the truth. I can only hope JM brings this out, too. His memory is incredible and he doesn't seem to miss a detail. I am really looking forward to rebuttal and the closing argument.

My Forte, I agree, Arias tried to think of everything....pre and post meditate and have everything in place in case she was arrested. In court she said she took that picture of the shirt and underwear as a keepsake. That smacks of more BS. And yes, so interesting there is no evidence of the spidey underwear. There is no evidence to back up any of her lies....just her word, which is worth nothing. Unbelievable.

  11. Oh My Forte, I wanted to add that I also agree that if she just admitted she was jealous she'd be a lot more believable. It is obvious. For being such a smooth liar, she blew that one. But I think it is the reason for the murder, so she is denying it.

I was thinking, for an artist, you would think she'd do a better job placing those letters on the shorts. ; )

I think that jealousy is a natural emotion and we have all experienced to some degree in our lives! But she just can't admit to being jealous, only feeling hurt, betrayed, cheated on, lied to or any other emotion that allows her to keep being a victim! I'd be willing to bet that she seduced him, and used sex as a weapon to get close to him. He's probably the one who felt guilt and shame, for straying from the values he was raised with. Jodi Arias was not Mormon, she was whatever she needed to be to be with Travis Alexander! The whole coy act around what constitutes a sex act is just ridiculous, and I really pray that the jury is seeing through her transparent attempt to blame all of her shameful behavior on the man she murderered!! Thanks so much for commenting, I enjoy your postings.

Isn't it interesting that she became a Mormon 6 weeks after they met. They weren't "officially dating" yet. Very strange. I find that creepy, too. I really hope and pray the jury see's through her act, too. It does sound like they are skeptical.

  12. Sue, she took the picture for a keepsake, and disposed

If I'm not mistaken, the photo of the Spiderman underwear they showed in court were not Arias' - it was just a photo depicting what little boys style Spidey's look like so the jury could see the style - I don't think she ever provided any actual photo of them. If Travis liked her in them so much, there would've been photos of her wearing them! She had the photo's of herself in the pigtails - it's like she built these elaborate stories around what little "evidence" she compiled - starting with that audio tape. I think with the assistance of her attorney, who specializes in defending those charged with sex crimes/crimes against children, she came up with these wild stories loosely based on the comments Travis made on that audio tape. She's a snake!

  13. I see one problem with the idea she made the underwear herself. From all that I have seen, she is extremely artistic. It seems someone who could do complex drawings with color pencils could iron on letters straight. I am interested in the info regarding the shirt. Where can you see the back of this shirt?

    1. Melanie,
I've never seen the back of the t-shirt - somebody posted the comment here but I don't believe they said where that info came from. I agree with you that Arias does have some artistic talent, but she admitted that she knew she was going to be arrested and she took the photos in July - she may have been in such a rush to get this stuff done that she made do with whatever supplies were available to her in her sleepy little town of Yreka! The shorts or underwear (I'm not even sure which they really are!) were fairly ugly - not something I think a male would want to see his woman in! Don't men usually pick out nicer lingerie when they buy those types of gifts? I think by the time she started taking pictures, she was in a full blown panic, trying to think of ways that she could get out of what she had done. From the sound of things, she was just about ready to leave town when they arrested her! I have to agree that some of her artwork is pretty good - but I am so against her making money off of selling it. The fact of the matter is that it would be of little to no value if not for her notoriety from this murder case. And while I do feel for her parents and their travel expenses, what about the Alexander family? They are traveling and in court every day too. Thanks so much for commenting!

  14. I think she had the shirt made, Bought the underwear &
put on the letters, then why would she take a pic &
get rid of the evidence if it could help her case. She was
mad because he mentioned Katie Barnes for helping him
with the intro to his book, dated May 5, 2208 "Raising
You." she wrote him a letter after that, she wanted to be
mentioned too. Well the same thing could be said about

thought she deleted the pics, but left the sim card.

Yes, it seems that Jodi Arias got rid of every piece of evidence that would disprove her stories. Had she kept the gun she shot him with, it would conclusively prove if she brought it with her or if it was not her grandfather's gun, it could have helped her! She was petty and jealous enough to be upset that she didn't get a mention in his book - when in fact she had not even known him for that long, but she wanted to be the most important person in his life. I think it's some kind of karmic justice that the "photographer" is about to be taken down by a tool of her own craft, a camera! Had she taken that camera, this case wouldve been a lot harder to prove in court! Thanks for writing!

  15. Here is a really out there idea, but it crossed my mind. Given the shower scene comparison (google: chat house news shower scene) and all her parallels to films. What if she was on her way to being a serial killer? I have read some people believe that. You know how serial killers get names......maybe she wanted to be the Hollywood killer, or something like that. The horror film killer.

I have read some pictures were deleted and some were still on the camera. Any idea which ones were left? Maybe she purposely left the camera there with the "psycho" pictures on it....thinking they would not be able to retrieve the others. In the interview with the detective she says "that does look like me"....probably thinking: oh, crap! Busted.

Just a thought that floated through my head....lol.
