Martin Martinez Murder Trial - Will He Face The Death Penalty?

It's been more than 2 years since the what we can only imagine were brutal murders of 5 women and children in a Nob Hill Court home in Modesto, CA - yet the outrage is still fresh in the minds of many. After all, answers and justice do not come fast, and sometimes the HONEST answers never come at all.  Thankfully its unlikely multi murder defendant Martin Martinez will plea his way out of this massacre.  After all, if a prosecutor offers a plea to a man who kills his own infant daughter, his mother, his girlfriend and her 6 year old child - as well as his 5 year old niece - justice would just be synonymous with "joke".

On or around July 15, 2015, the 5 bodies were discovered in the very home of Dr. Amanda Crews.  Dr. Crews by all accounts was a wonderful doctor and a giving and caring human being.  She spent her medical career caring for the less fortunate needing health care in the county.  That's something her family can be very proud of.  Not all doctors are in the profession for the payday.  Everything I've read points to Amanda as being one of the good ones.  Her patients wrote heartfelt comments in tribute to her on many web pages dedicated to her memory.  I have yet to see a tribute to Martin Martinez.

Unfortunately, being charged with 5 counts of first degree murder ensures this trial is likely to suffer numerous postponements as the public defender wrestles with trying to devise a defense to such an unspeakable act.  Poor childhood?  Ba reaction to medication?  Didn't his mother hug him enough?  I shouldn't say that, she was also a victim of her son's brutality. I can't say how sorry I am enough to the family of Amanda and to Martin's mother's family - for the loss of her and the niece who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I sometimes wish California was more like the sunshine state, where legal documents were made available to the public and we could get a glimpse into the details of this case.  Details are few and far between.  This much I have gleamed from the "High Profile Case" page of the Stanislaus County website.  There are 2 enhancements added to the indictment for Mr. Martinez using a knife in the commission of the murders - presumably using them on Amanda and his own mother.  He wouldn't have had much of a challenge killing his 6 month old daughter Rachael, Amanda's 6 year old daughter Elizabeth or the other 5 year old that was present.  What a COWARD.

Did those children pose a threat to him?  The only threat they posed was in identification of him as the killer.  Again - WHAT A COWARD.  What kind of sick mind seeks to silence these young girls?  The same sick mind who stuck a knife in his own mother.  I hope I have the opportunity to attend this trial, when it ever gets around to starting. I'd imagine the public defender will seek to delay delay delay - after all, lets face it - his only hope is to save him from sitting on Death Row with Scott Peterson, Richard Ramirez and all of the other California killers scheduled for execution.

He really doesn't stand a chance at any type of acquittal and unless we are missing a huge part of the story he deserves the most severe punishment. I can't see any of those ladies threatening him with a gun, knife, machete, stun gun or any other weapon.  So why kill them, and why kill them all?  He and Amanda's relationship may have suffered greatly after he was indicted on murder charges in the death of Amanda's 2 year old son Christopher in October of 2014.  But why kill them all?  Did they simply witness Amanda's death and they were collateral damage?

If you have ever read my blog, you know how I feel about these killers.  Like Christopher Coleman who strangled his wife Sherry, and his 2 adorable kids Gavin and Garrett while they slept so he could be with his "mistress" from Florida.  As the head of security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, I would have really expected a less transparent murder cover up.  His "clues" left for the police pointed right back at him.  Unfortunately his state abolished the death penalty, so he's in jail for life.  I hope he lives every day with the images of his family looking up at his face while he choked the life out of them. He deserves nothing less.

What's next for Marty Martinez?  His next court date is listed as 11/27/17.  If I'm able to attend, I'll be there.  I want details to write about this tragedy.  Marty Martinez  "allegedly" killed an entire family including Amanda, Christopher and Rachael.  This isn't counting members of his own family - mom and niece.  What a piece of work.  I'll be writing about this horrific mass murder as details emerge.  I'm sick over it, and we should all be praying that this doesn't happen again.  What is causing our society to use murder to problem solve?  Can't people control their tempers or handle problems in an adult manner or does it always have to end in violence with a certain type of individual?  Did anyone see this coming?

Let's pray for the entire community, the state and the world at large. We need to find faith through all of this ugliness. Rest in peace Amanda, Rachael, Christopher, Anna Brown Romeo and Esmerala Navarro.
